About Betty:

In my forty years of living in La Plata County, I have worked and become acquainted with our populations in Ignacio, Bayfield, and Durango.

My experiences began when our family moved here and became part of these communities. When I was a stay-at-home mom with three growing children, I attended Fort Lewis College and earned a BA degree in education. My teaching experience began in 1975 at the Ignacio Elementary School. As I attended CU on a part-time basis, I earned a MA in administration. In 1986, the next job took me to the Bayfield Elementary/Middle School as a teacher and assistant principal. My advancement there was becoming the Middle School principal until my retirement in 1994.

Real estate has always been an interest in my life, and in 1995 I earned a real estate license and became part of The Wells Group. This has been a great challenge and opportunity for me in the past 14 years.

Real estate work is demanding but satisfying through meeting newcomers to the community; assisting locals with investments; and buyers and sellers who are downsizing, upgrading, etc. The Wells Group provides many tools to assist brokers to be successful which includes a work place that is historic and a reputable presence in the community.
